Doctrinal Statement

As a ministry of Lighthouse Fellowship, Lighthouse Christian Academy is dedicated to teaching Bible truths from a conservative, evangelical perspective. The following statements describe these doctrinal beliefs that we hold as a foundation - not subject to argument.

WE BELIEVE:

>About God: We understand God as expressed in three persons, of one substance, power and eternity-the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are often referred to as The Trinity. These three are co-equal and are one God. One helpful illustration would be to think of water; it can be found in three forms: liquid, gas and solid. Yet it is the same substance. God-The Father is often referred to as distinguished by the work of Creator.
Genesis 1:1, 26, 26; 3:22, Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:29; 1 Peter 1:2, 2 Cor. 13:14

>The Son of God, Who was made man: The Son, of one substance with the Father, took man’s nature in the womb of the virgin Mary; so that the two natures, that is to say, the God and Mankind, were joined in one person. Jesus truly suffered, was crucified, dead, and buried, to reconcile his Father to us, and to be a sacrifice, not only for original guilt, but also of actual sins of mankind. Christ did truly rise again from the dead, and took again his body, and he ascended into heaven, and there sits until he returns to judge all people at the last day. Jesus’ role is often referred to as Redeemer.
Matt 1:22, 23; Isiah 9:6; John 1:1-5, 14:10-30; Hebrews 4:14,15; I Cor. 15:3,4; Romans 1:3,4; Acts 1:9-11; ITim 6:14,15; Titus 2:13

>The Holy Spirit: The Holy Spirit, proceeding from the Father and the Son, is of one substance, majesty and glory with the Father and the Son. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. He reveals a persons’ spiritual gift(s) when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His daily control. The role of the Spirit is often referred to as Sustainer.
II Cor 3:17, John 16:7-13,14:16, 17; Acts 1:8; I Cor 2:12, 3:16, Eph 1:13; Gal 5:25

>The Teachings of the Bible: The Holy Scripture contains all teachings necessary for salvation. It was written by human authors under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The Bible is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living.
II Tim 3:;16: II Peter 1:20, 21; II Tim 1:13, Psalm 119:105, 160, 12:6, Proverbs 30:5

>About Salvation: Salvation is God’s free gift to us but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are saved. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his/her life by faith.
Romans 6:23; Eph 2:8,9; John 14:6, 1:12, Tutus 3:5, Gal 3:26, Rom 5:1

>About Eternity: People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life. Heaven and Hell are real places of eternal existence.
John 3:16; John 14:17, Romans 6:23; Romans 8:17-18
