Thank you for considering Lighthouse Christian Academy for your child’s school experience! LCA has been a Christian school for children for 30 years. The Board of Trustees has joined with our parent church, Lighthouse Fellowship, a United Methodist Community of Faith, in a vision for the school’s growth into a K-6th grade school, including preschool of twos, threes, and fours.
STAFF: The Elementary staff brings talent and skill to the classroom, along with a love for children, and a love for Christian education. They are always available for conferences, and classrooms are a warm place for each child to learn.

CURRICULUM: It is believed that all parts of the school day is part of the school curriculum, as children learn from so many different facets of the day. Christian publishers make up the majority of the school’s written curriculum, though we feel it is the teacher that makes any teaching Christian with her explanation and integration of God’s word. Each year the curriculum is reviewed and updated as needed. Currently:

ENRICHMENT: Along with the traditional classroom curriculum, children are offered enrichment opportunities each week.
Physical education is taught by a special teacher who helps the children grow in cooperation, following rules, teamwork, and skills of various activities and sports. Music is another learning tool, enhancing the child’s natural love of sounds and combinations of sounds. Songs, rhythm, and musical instruments are introduced, along with praise songs which are often sung in chapel. School programs are also offered at various times of the year and songs are taught in music class. Computer classes are essential for our technology age. Students begin with keyboarding skills, moving on to learning to efficiently operate computers for their future school and personal use. Spanish language skills are a great asset here in the southwest. Students are given a sound basis of this language with vocabulary building, as well as conversational phrases and awareness.
CHAPEL: Students attend chapel once each week. During this service in the Worship Center, the children are involved in worship, singing, prayer, and scripture lessons. The children are given special teaching by the chapel teacher. Music and puppets are incorporated into the lessons, and each class shares corporately its weekly Bible memory verse.
FIELD TRIPS: Field trips are a fun part of each child’s school year. It is a chance to extend learning outside the campus and to share with their friends new experiences as they grow educationally.
